GUWAHATI: Due to rise in the water level of the Brahmaputra, ferry services from Guwahati to North Guwahati have been suspended from Monday.

An official of the Inland Water Transport department said, "The water level suddenly increased by 4 metres and damaged the approach roads to the Rajduar Ghat and the Madhyam Ghat. With everything submerged, we have to halt the ferry services. Only the Ro-Pax will be in service. Also, the Mazgaon Ghat will remain open for the ropeway service."

The official further said, "We will try to make another ghat operational soon by using wooden planks on the approach roads so that commuters do not suffer."
