GUWAHATI: State Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said students of classes V and VIII would have to take final examinations. He said, "If any student cannot qualify for these final examinations, he will get another chance to appear in the examinations within two months and get a promotion if passed. If a student cannot qualify for the second chance, he will have to remain detained in the same class for another year."

The minister said this in Prime Minister's Pariksha Pe Charcha-2023 programme at Simanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati today. Students from the state also took part in the programme.

The minister said that the exchange of opinions between the students and the Prime Minister would boost the morale of the students. The minister launched the 11-language book published by the Prime Minister - Exam Warriors-at the programme. The minister also gave prizes to the winners of a drawing competition held earlier at the function. Education Adviser Nanigopal Mahanta, Mission Director, SSA Dr Om Prakash, Education Secretary SM Choudhury, Higher Education Secretary Narayan Konwar, Secondary Education Mamata Hojai, MP Queen Oja and others were present at the programme.
