Guwahati: On Saturday, FICCI FLO North East held an event "Face to Face" with Additional Director General of Police, Assam, Harmeet Singh on Cyber World- Pitfalls and Safeguards.

In order to create homogeneity and to help everyone understand the concept behind FACE TO FACE, FLO National President Harjinder Kaur Talwar had sent her Video Byte, which was played.

In the program conducted by Vasavi Acharyya, Chairperson of FLO North East, Dr. Srutimala Duara, in her welcome address said, "Crime has been rampant in this world since time immemorial taking different shapes and shades. In today's world, it has taken the shape of cybercrime, crime committed through the computer. Technology has given the world advantages unheard of in the past but it also has its pitfalls that have turned people's lives upside down." Vice-Chairperson of FLO North East, Suruchi Agarwal introduced senior police official Harmeet Singh, the man behind the use of social media by the police for a cause. Singh along with Salik Khan comprise the social media team, who has made Assam police Twitter celebrity hands down. Their perfect balance of quirk and the social message has caught the eyes of many and has also opened up the doors of conversations for reaching out to the masses.

Addressing the gathering, ADGP Harmeet Singh in his powerpoint presentation spoke on the necessity of having a password in our mobile phones, warning not to go into any online shopping using public wifi in the airport or in the shopping malls or restaurants. He spoke on how to be safe from hackers, stalkers and harassment from advertisers who might be actually trying to get into our details. He appealed to think before forwarding any message that comes as forwards in our WhatsApp. His think campaign has won an award presented to him recently in Delhi. Mr. Singh with his witty anecdotes gave an account of cases where the Assam Police fished out the criminals who committed cybercrimes.

After an interesting interaction, the vote of thanks was offered by Senior Vice-Chairperson, Juhie Saboo.
