Form HSLC exam centre committees by January 15: SEBA

Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) has issued guidelines for the constitution of centre committees for conducting the HSLC (High School Leaving Certificate) examinations, 2023.

GUWAHATI: Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) has issued guidelines for the constitution of centre committees for conducting the HSLC (High School Leaving Certificate) examinations, 2023. It has also spelt out the duty and functions of the centre committees.

Each centre committee should have a president, a secretary and members. An MP/MLA, president of school managing committees, president of governing bodies of institutions, distinguished educationist or gazetted officer can become president of such centre committees. Principals and headmasters of institutions can hold the post of secretaries who will act as officers in charge.

All heads of schools of appearing candidates can become members of the committees. The members should have six leading persons or educationists, including a lady, besides the officer-in-charges of the local police stations and post-masters of post offices and a medical officer.

SEBA stated that the officers-in-charge must hold the meeting before January 15, 2023, for the formation of centre committees in presence of at least 200/250 people, including heads of local educational institutions, managing committees of centre schools, OCs of police stations, postmasters, doctors or medical officers, teaching staff of all educational institutions under the centres, guardians of the candidates, distinguished persons and others.

The centres should install CCTV cameras, erect permanent or temporary boundary walls, the feeder school should not be more than one km away from the main centre, the central committee is collectively responsible for the fair conduct of the examination, etc.

To accommodate excess candidates, the central committee may recommend a venue with prior approval of the SEBA or the Inspector of the Schools concerned.
