GUWAHATI: The All Guwahati Students' Union (AGSU) has expressed grief over the demise of Assam Agitation leader and former president of the body Jayanta Duwarah (Jitu).
He took active participation during the Assam Agitation in 1983 during which he was arrested under P.D. Act. He breathed his last at his residence in Guwahati on Monday. The AGSU gave its condolences to the bereaved family.
North East Students' Union (NESO) advisor Dr Samujjal Bhattacharya, AASU executive member Raifuddin Ahmed, All Kamrup (Metro) District Students' Union president Rajmil Ali, AGSU president Anwar Hussain, general secretary Tutumoni Choudhury paid last homage to the leader in the city on Tuesday. On January 10, the AGSU will also organize a tribute ceremony at Swahid Bhawan to pay homage to late Duwarah.
