GUWAHATI: The city is plagued by a sudden spurt in loot cases, where snatchers in bikes have been committing day-light robberies. It has become an everyday affair now and it seems as though these snatchers set up their watch at banks and ATM vestibules and when they observe someone withdrawing a huge amount, they immediately set chase. Inspite of all the actions taken to curb the menace, no visible difference has been observed.
This time, a former Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Shyam Sundar Talukdar fell prey to the snatchers as Rs 2,00,000 was looted from his possession at Jatiya, after withdrawing the money from Central Bank Dispur Chariali branch. A case has been registered in this regard at Dispur police station.
