GUWAHATI: Rashid K Kidwai, also known for his passionate contribution to the world of wildlife photography passed away in Delhi on June 6. Rashid K Kidwai was admitted to Apollo Hospital, Delhi due to post COVID ailments. Meanwhile, Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs and Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri on his social media handle wrote, "To God, we belong, & to him, we return. Deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Rashid K Kidwai, my friend from college days. Vivacious & full of fun, he will be deeply missed. Lakshmi & I offer our sincerest condolences to Naina Ji."
Kidwai began his professional life in the corporate world as an executive of ITC Limited and later on joined the Duncan Agro in which his work stints mostly revolved in Eastern and Northeast India. In the later stage of his life, Kidwai was involved in several startups and brought to bear his corporate organizational skills in founding Digital Partners, a non-profit organization of which he was the Managing Director.
Kidwai was also the Director of Grassroot Trading Network for Women, a company that is known for implementing community, personal and social services gender empowerment to poor women members of SEWA. A naturalist since childhood Kidwai was a proficient wildlife photographer and has over the years contributed serious wildlife features in the national media. Kidwai is known in appropriate forums to have encouraged visitation to Assam's wildlife protected Areas about whose recreational values he was knowledgeable about.
Kidwai did his schooling in St. Edmund's School Shillong and graduated from St Stephen's College, Delhi. Kidwai is survived by his wife Naina Lal Kidwai and two children.
