GUWAHATI: State Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Jogen Mohan laid the foundation stone for the office building of Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) on Thursday at the new site at Maidamgaon, near Dispur Revenue Circle office, Beltola.

Further, 5 drones purchased by ASDMA were handed over by North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) after the foundation stone-laying ceremony. Scientist Ramani Kr.Das and Chirag Gupta from NESAC attended the function.

The present office of ASDMA is temporarily functioning from the Ancillary block of Assam Secretariat, Dispur since 2010. The new building will consist of the permanent office of ASDMA and the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC). The building will be earthquake resilient and all other modern technologies will be implemented in the building for making it a disaster-resilient building.

Mohan in his speech said that the construction of the new office building of ASDMA would be completed in December 2023. It would help ASDMA to explore more innovative projects to make the State resilient.

The programme was also attended by Bhaskar Pegu, Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Geetanjali Bhattacharya, Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, and other dignitaries.
