GUWAHATI: A person made the police and the public catch a fraud, Chandan Kumar, hailing from Motihari in Bihar, at SRCB Road in the Fancy Bazar area in Guwahati today. The fraud made an abortive attempt to deceive the person with a Rs 2-lakh bundle that, in essence, had only one 2000-rupee note atop and only bank papers inside. The fraud told the person that since his employer did not pay his salary for a long time, he had to steal Rs 2 lakh from his employer. He was trying tp persuadie the person to give him whatever amount he had in his bank account by the bundle of Rs 2 lakh. Smelling a rat, the person called the police and people stayed nearby. The police caught hold of the fraud and discovered that the bundle of cash had only a 2000-rupee note atop. The rest were blank papers. Frauds are on the prowl in Guwahati with diverse tactics to dupe gullible people. Sometimes, they successfully dupe people with various luring tactics.
