Fresh non-bailable warrant of arrest issued against Garga Chatterjee

GUWAHATI: A fresh non-bailable warrant of arrest has been issued against West Bengal intellectual Garga Chatterjee. The date for producing the accused before the magistrate has been fixed on September 21, 2021. This was informed to the Gauhati High Court by Additional Senior Government Advocate, M Goswami.

Goswami placed relevant materials before the Court regarding the Crime Branch PS case no.10/2020. He said that the Subdivisional Judicial Magistrate (S)-1, Kamrup (metro), Guwahati had already issued fresh order of non-bailable warrant against Garga Chatterjee. The date fixed for production of the accused is September 21, 2021. The court ordered the Additional Senior Government Advocate to apprise the court about the status of the case on the next hearing on October 27, 2021 and also about the production of the accused before the Magistrate.

West Bengal intellectual Garga Chatterjee had stirred a storm by making derogatory comments against the Ahom community.
