GUWAHATI: The elections for the union body for the students of the Gauhati Commerce College (GCC) were postponed amidst protests by students. The elections, which were originally scheduled to be held on October 5, will now be held on October 9.
A large number of students staged a protest regarding the cancellation of the candidature of multiple students over attendance-related problems. The students alleged that there were severe discrepancies regarding the attendance records, which were essential for the election. The students had earlier protested on October 3 for the same reason, and the authorities have now decided to scrutinise the records and organise the elections at a later date.
