GUWAHATI: Hearing a PIL (40/2020), the GauhatiHigh Court has directed the Assam government to file an affidavit on or before August 13, 2020 placing all notifications and status pertaining to COVID-19 testing.

Practising advocate of the Gauhati High Court Daiyan Hussain filed a PIL on June 23, regarding COVID-19 test. The petitioner also challenged the rate of fees being charged by hospitals for conducting COVID-19 test, which, he stated, should be reduced from Rs 4,500 to Rs 2,800 per test. Now the matter is adjourned till August 20.

In the last hearing on July 13, a single bench of the Gauhati High Court comprising Chief Justice Ajai Lamba had asked the Assam government to produce all notifications, if any, pertaining to the tests to the Court in the next hearing of the PIL on August 3.
