Girl's FIR lands father in jail on the charge of sexual harassment

GUWAHATI: The Principal in-charge of a Government Law College, Guwahati has been sent to the jail by the CJM (Chief Judicial Magistrate) Court on Monday on the charge sexual harassment to his daughter. The police also served a notice to his wife for alleged mental harassment on her daughter.

According to the police, personnel from the All-Women Police Station at Panbazar here arrested the principal in-charge from his Birubari residence here on Sunday night. On November 30, 2020 his daughter had lodged an FIR at the police station stating that her father had been sexually harassing her from 2004 to 2011. After that, both her father and mother, who is a Deputy Secretary of Higher Education Department, had been harassing her physically and mentally, the FIR said.

The police registered a case (185/20 u/s 354/352/506/294 and added Section 376 of IPC) in that connection. The police produced the father before the CJM Court here on Monday. The Court sent him to judicial custody. The police, on the other hand, issued a notice to the mother of the girl for her alleged mental harassment to her daughter.
