GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi inaugurated the regional workshop-cum-seminar on Panchgavya Chikitsa at Gauhati Gaushala on Sunday and stressed extensive scientific use of Panchgavya for giving health and happiness to the people.
Speaking on the occasion the Governor said that the ancient Indian medical system that is Ayurveda is based on Panchgavya as preparations of most of Ayurvedic medicines are dependent on the use of any one or all gavya (ingredients) of desi cow. Similarly, traditional Indian food is also incomplete without gavya products like milk, curd, ghee etc. That is why Indian scriptures do not consider cow just as an animal, rather they worship it as a source for life giving prosperity.
Prof. Mukhi said that the Indian civilization and economic practice are always based on agriculture as well as Gau palan. Taking it as a driving force for forward march the Governor said that he himself adopted agriculture sector of Morigaon district to help the farmers of the district to be developed through agriculture and allied subjects like gau palan, sericulture, horticulture etc.
The Governor said that Gau palan should be scientific because there is no diseases which cannot be cured by ingredients that produced by cow. Be it milk, urine, cow dung and other constituents like curd, ghee etc of cow etc. every product has a life giving sources. He also said that every rural household should adopt a cow to help them to lift their economic condition, a press release said.
The Governor also congratulated World Ayurveda Foundation, Shri Gauhati Gaushala and NASYA (Assam Branch) for taking the initiatives to organize such a knowledge sharing workshop. He also exuded confidence the workshop of this kind will help the young Ayurveda doctors and general public to internalize the importance of Panchgavya obtained from desi cow, the release added.
