GUWAHATI: GRP and RPF personnel rescued at least four minor girls from the Guwahati Railway Station on June 15, and handed them over to Child Line, Guwahati.

GRP personnel spotted a minor girl loitering on Plate Form No 1 in a distress condition on June 15. When asked, the girl disclosed her name and address. She hailed from Mankachar. She confessed that she had fled her house without the consent of her parents, and came to Guwahati by road to roam. As the GRP could not make any contact with her relatives due to lack of any contact number they handed over the girl to Child Line, Guwahati after observing necessary formalities.

In a similar incident, RPF personnel, along with childline members, conducted a raid against child trafficking in Guwahati Railway Station on June 16. They found two minor girls roaming in a distressing condition at PF No. 1. When asked, the girls disclosed their names and addresses. They fled their homes in the Morigaon district without the consent of their parents. They further stated that they came to Guwahati in search of jobs. The two girls gave no contact number to their guardians. After observing all formalities, the RPF handed over both the rescued minor girls to Child Line, Guwahati.

In yet another incident on June 15, RPF personnel rescued another minor girl hailing from Nagaon. After observing necessary formalities they handed over the girl to the Child Line, Guwahati.
