Guard wall of Khanajan Stream Falls Down on Three Houses

GUWAHATI: The guard wall of the Khanajan stream in Khanamukh area burst on Thursday at around 2 am, taking down three houses with it. The stream paves its way from Deeporbil and empties into the Brahmaputra. The houses belonged to one Pramod Barman and his son Trishan Barman upon hearing a noise, came out of his house as well as a renter, when they witnessed the houses crumbling away. They immediately called for help and with the aid of locals and Azara police officials, 13 members trapped inside the houses were rescued.

Almost 50 meters of the guard wall had broken off and local MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita proposed to the DC to provide aid to the unfortunate people involved in the natural disaster. DC in his part has asked Azara Circle Office to submit a report of the incident.
