GUWAHATI: The results of Gunotsav 2023 that were declared by the Education Department have created an anomaly. Especially for Class V's environmental science, here the total marks shown are 18 instead of 14. The Assam State Primary Teachers Association (ASPTA) has said that this has impacted the grading of the schools as well as the results of the students.
The total number of questions for Class V was 58, with each question carrying one mark. Language I had 16 questions; Language II had 10 questions; Mathematics had 18 questions; and Environmental Science had 14 questions. The marksheets showed 18 marks for environmental science instead of 14, and the total number, which should be 58, showed 62.
In regards to this, the average number decreased because of the mistake, and this impacted the results of the students. Also, the skill numbers of the students were not added to this year's Gunotsav. Though they were shown on the marksheets, they were not added to the total marks.
ASPTA General Secretary Ratul Chandra Goswami said, "The results declared for Gunotsav'23 are doubtful. Especially for Class V students, where the total marks are 14 and shown as 18, this has led to a decrease in the percentage of the students as well as the grading of the schools. We demand that SSA (Sarba Siksha Abhiyan, Assam) take steps to clarify the matter."
