Guwahati: 6-year-old child killed in leopard attack

Guwahati: A 6-year-old child in the Nilachal Hills area in Guwahati's Maligaon on Friday tragically succumbed to death following a leopard attack.

As per reports, the leopard had reportedly strayed out of the forest on Friday when its eyes alighted on the little boy who was playing near his house. The carnivore suddenly pounced on the child and mauled him.

Although locals who saw the horrific incident unfolding in front of their eyes raised a hue-and-cry, it proved to be too late to save the child.

The leopard dragged the helpless boy deep into the dark woods as onlookers watched on in horror.

The boy was later found by locals who rushed him to a private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The death of the little child as cast a pall of gloom in the Nilachal Hills area.
