GUWAHATI: An astounding 366 risky spots have been located by the Guwahati administration in Assam, prompting worries about future landslides.

Authorities have reportedly assessed the locations where landslides are expected to occur and taken preventative action, according to sources. Fatasil, Bhangagarh, Gotanagar, Hengrabari, Jalukbari, Lankeshwar, Kahilipara, Kala Pahar, Kharghuli, Koinadhara, Maligaon, Navagraha, Narakasura, Narengi, and Noonmati are among the places that have been recognised.

In Dhirenpara, Guwahati, a guard wall that was protecting a plant that produced sweets collapsed on Thursday, killing one person. Due to the recent days' incessant rains in the Dhirenpara locality of Guwahati, the guard wall protecting the tiny confectionery production facility at Sonali Path collapsed.

The rescue team discovered the deceased victim after clearing the area of the rubble. The deceased has been identified as Mukhtar Ali. Sources claim that the recent days of uninterrupted rain were to blame for the landside. A sweets seller lost his life when the security wall of a factory collapsed.

The administration prioritizes citizen safety as the rainy season draws near and has encouraged them to exercise caution. To reduce potential dangers, precautionary measures are being taken, including monitoring slope stability, installing the requisite drainage systems, and carrying out routine inspections.

The previous several days have seen a lot of rainfall in Sikkim, a state in the Himalayas. As a result, landslides have taken place in the state, washing away a number of crucial highways.

The flooding situation in Assam grew worse on Friday as nonstop rain inundated fresh locations across 11 districts, affecting more than 34,000 people.

According to the daily flood report published by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the majority of rivers, including the Brahmaputra, are continuing their trend of rising water levels at various locations even though none are currently flowing above the danger mark.
