Guwahati City Police punishes people for not wearing masks during lockdown

GUWAHATI: After the government made it compulsory to wear masks in public, the Guwahati City Police on Saturday punished the people who came out to the streets for not following the instruction. Police were conducting checking in various areas of the city including Fancy Bazar, Christian Basti and Ganeshguri. The violators were made to do squats in Fancy Bazar area for risking the lives of themselves as well as people around them. The department stated that, “People should stay at home and only come out for essential services. Everyone should wear masks and gloves while coming out and should shop at their nearest markets. We are working for the public; thus, we urge you to keep us safe.”
