GUWAHATI: After the implementation of the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) MV Act 2019, city traffic police have charged hefty amounts in the past few days, to ensure that each citizen obeys the regulations stipulated under the Motor Vehicles Act. However, the city residents have often complained and grumbled when large sums are charged for breaking any rule. In light of the situation, the demand to ensure that even the authorities abide by the rules has become the new rage among the mass. Pictures of police personnel driving without helmet/seatbelt have found its way into social media and opened a can of worms. As such, the commissioner of police Deepak Kumar has instructed all police personnel to strictly abide by the MV Act and released a notice, which is posted in every police station to use helmet and seatbelt while driving a motorcycle and other vehicles. If any police personnel is found breaking the rules, then they too will be charged accordingly.
