Guwahati: The Central Bank of India branch located in Guwahati city's Bhangagarh has been untagged as a containment zone by the Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner "as no further COVID-19 positive case has been declared since declaration of Containment Zone." The Central Bank branch had been 'contained' on September 9 last as a precautionary measure following the detection of COVID-19 positive cases.
Kamrup (M) DC Biswajit Pegu, addressing the media today at his office, briefed regarding the ongoing COVID-19 situation in the district. Pegu stated that the COVID-19 curve has more or less stayed constant over the past few days. "If you look at the number of cases around 10 back, you will see that the number is more or less the same", he said. "The situation has not improved, but it has not turned towards the worse either."
It needs mention here that Assam on Tuesday reported 2,409 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases to 1,46,575, said Himanta Biswa Sarma, State Health Minister. The total number of cases include 1,15,051 recoveries, 31,029 active cases, and 492 deaths.
Of the fresh deaths reported on Tuesday, four were reported from Kamrup Metropolitan district, two from Dibrugarh and one each from Tinsukia, Karbi Anglong, Barpeta and Lakhimpur, informed Assam's health and finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The 2,409 new positive cases include 633 from Kamrup Metropolitan, 201 from Dibrugarh, 172 from Jorhat and 120 from Lakhimpur.
The new cases were detected out of 32,770 tests conducted during the last 24 hours, taking the total number of such tests done in the state so far to 27,82,807.
Altogether 1,849 patients were cured of the disease on Tuesday, taking the recovery rate in Assam to 79.80 per cent.
