Guwahati Crime Branch arrested 6 persons and recovered a pistol

GUWAHATI: Ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, Guwahati Crime Branch arrested six persons and recovered a pistol with 9 bullets from Khanapara on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, the personnel held the accused in front of the Khanapara Veterinary College. They were travelling in two cars from Dhupdhara to Sonapur.

The accused are - Pranjal Ray (32), Bikash Gogoi (32), Jintu Ahmed (19), Riaz Ali (31), Albert Khan (34), Tarkeswar Das (24).

It is to be noted that the crime rate across the city is surging ahead of the Independence Day. Recently, the police recovered a huge quantity of drugs and cash in separate operations across the city.
