GUWAHATI: The 73rd Independence Day is knocking at the door. Along with rest of the state, Guwahati is all set to celebrate India’s 73rd Independence Day.
The city now seems to be filled with the tricolours. Speaking to a local shopkeeper The Sentinel came with the information of different types of flags available in the market. One of the shopkeepers from Silpukhuri said, “There’re flags at different prices depending upon the quality of the cloths and paper. We’ve flags made of silk, khadi as well as paper of different sizes. Besides flags, we also have caps and badges.”
Kartik Das, another shopkeeper, said, “The products come from Kolkata. I’ve been engaged in this work for last five years and response from customers has always been satisfactory. However, now we don’t sell flags made of plastic as the government has banned it.”
