GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation has constituted a team to inspect the disposal of biomedical wastes at various hospital of the city, on Monday.

The GMC team includes – Collector, Senior Medical Officer, Veterinary Officer and Executive Engineers (Division – I, II,III,IV,V,VI). The team will be head by GMC Joint Commissioner Pulak Mahanta. During the inspection of Critical Care Hospital, the following anomalies were found:

(i) License renewal pending

(ii) Log Book of Waste Management not maintained

(iii) Disposal of Bio-medical Waste and General Waste is not segregated

Accordingly, the hospital was penalized an amount of Rs 50,000 for non compliance of Bio Medical Waste Management Rule.

While inspecting the Akansha Hospital, the following anomalies were found:

(i) Disposal of Bio-medical Waste and General Waste is not segregated

(ii) Log Book of Waste Management not maintained A fine of Rs 30,000 was imposed on the hospital.
