GUWAHATI: The inhabitants of greater Sribhumi Nagar felicitated the newly-elected Mayor of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation, Mrigen Sarania, Deputy Mayor Smita Roy and Councillor of Ward No 25 Manjula Rabha at Sribhumi Nagar Kali Mandir Dharmasala premises on Sunday, stated a press release.
Sribhuminagar covers a large area covering Ward No 22 and Ward No 25. Overall, the local inhabitants voiced the complaint that there has been no development at the grass roots level. The residents of the locality also submitted a memorandum to the Mayor to address the various public issues in the greater Sribhumi Nagar area at the meeting. In the memorandum, they demanded the development of dilapidated roads and bye-lanes along with the resolution of the water supply problem of the region.
The Mayor took note of the issues and promised a speedy solution. Deputy Mayor Smita Roy and Councillor Manjula Rava pledged their support in this regard.
Debashis Chowdhury, president of the Sribhumi Nagar Development Committee and Pamoli Dhar, retired teacher, called for all-round improvement of the locality. Dipak Kumar Saha, its secretary, offered the vote of thanks.
