Guwahati Municipal Corporation to evict footpath shops in city

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) will launch a campaign against footpath shops in the city.

Disclosing this at a press meet here on Wednesday, GMC Mayor Mrigen Sarania called upon vendors to vacate the footpath shops and said that otherwise the eviction drive will continue. He advised the street vendors to go from door to door to sell their goods.

Sarania also said that the GMC will provide forms for water supply this month and commence water supply by July.

At present, residents are getting drinking water through three projects, one of which is supplying muddy water as it is an old project. The GMC Mayor said that the problem will be resolved in the next two days.
