Guwahati Municipal Corporation to set up a solid waste management plant

GUWAHATI: GMC (Guwahati Municipal Corporation) has allocated Rs. 10 crores for the development of a solid waste management plant. As per reports, the plant will be set up in one of the four identified locations i.e. Chandrapur, Sonapur, Basistha, and Udalbakra. GMC is currently waiting for the official permission to start the project and after implementation; the dumping of waste at Boragaon dumping site will be stopped. However, locals of the above-mentioned areas have not agreed for the establishment of the plant.
