GUWAHATI: On May 29th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to flag off the Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express, which would travel 410 kilometres in six hours between the two stations.

According to reports, the semi-high speed train will have eight coaches and will travel from New Jalpaiguri to Guwahati via Kamakhya. The train will run six days a week and will stop at only four stations: New Alipurduar, Kokrajhar, New Bongaigaon, and Kamakhya. This route has a total of 6 stations where passengers can embark and exit.

The New Jalpaiguri-Guwahati Vande Bharat Express, train number 22227, will leave New Jalpaiguri at 6:10 a.m. and arrive in Guwahati at midday. Train number 22228 Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri Express will depart Guwahati at 4:30 p.m. and go through Kamakhya (4:42 p.m.), New Bongaigaon (6:48 p.m.), Kokrajhar (7:11 p.m.), and New Alipurduar (8:06 p.m.) to arrive in New Jalpaiguri at 10:20 p.m.

The railways previously introduced a 16-coach Vande Bharat train from Howrah to New Jalpaiguri in December 2022, and the service has been running at full capacity ever since.

On May 18, the Prime Minister introduced the Puri-Howrag Vande Bharat Express, and on May 25, he would introduce the 17th Vande Bharat, which will depart from Dehradun for Delhi.

According to an official statement, Indian Railways is working to fully electrify all of the nation's train networks in order to fulfil the prime minister's aim of offering more environmentally friendly modes of public transportation.

As quickly as feasible, Indian Railways wants to send 400 Vande Bharat Express trains to this nation. There are now 17 semi-high-speed trains running in India.

According to another report, "#VandeBharatExpress the symbol of rail travel with Speed and latest amenities reached Guwahati railway station, the Gateway of the Northeast for the first time during a trial run conducted on May 21 from New Jalpaiguri."
