Guwahati: Guwahati police on Friday arrested a woman and seized a fake currency note printing machine from her possession.

The arrested woman has been identified as Usha Barman, a resident of Jyoti Nagar, Bamunimaidam.

Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, the Guwahati Police said, ''A CGPD team from Chandmari PS bust a big scam when it arrested one Usha Barman after raiding her home in Jyoti Nagar, Bamunimaidam & recovering FICN 21,500 (500 × 43 Nos) along with a so-called FICN printing machine. Legal action has been initiated.''

Fake notes amounting to Rs 21,500 was also seized from the woman.

Reportedly, it has come to the fore that the woman runs a beauty parlor near her apartment.

As per the police, a case has been registered against her under the relevant sections of IPC at Chandmari police station.
