Guwahati Police arrested 5 ATM scammers in city

GUWAHATI: A West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) team from Azara PS and Jalukbari PS busted a gang of five ATM scammers who had been duping people by offering assistance and swapping their ATM cards for fake ones.

This gang was operating within Guwahati city and near the LGBI Airport area. They were arrested on Monday based on a tip-off. The arrested accused are Mofiz Uddin (25), Shafiqul Islam (29), Anowar Hussain (23), Rafiqul Islam (25) and Mokibul Islam (22), all from Kalgachia, Barpeta.

Police seized 18 ATM cards from their possession. The cards were used to dupe people who went to ATMs to withdraw money.
