Guwahati Police arrested five persons in GNRC Hospital loot case

GUWAHATI: The City Police has arrested five persons in connection with looting Rs 35 lakh, the amount belonged to GNRC Hospital in North Guwahati. The amount was looted when employees of the hospital were on their way to deposit the same in the bank on August 18.

Police sources said fiver persons including the driver of the GNRC staff bus Raghuram Deka were arrested on Friday along with an Alto Maruti car (AS-01-EK-6826). An amount of Rs 87,500 was recovered from them.

According to police Raghuram Deka was the mastermind behind looting incident. Along with Deka four other persons Pranab Bora, Saiful Islam, Majnur Ali and Rafiqul Islam were arrested. Seven other persons were involved in the incident. "We are trying to hunt down seven other accused," the source said.
