Guwahati: The Dakshin Borsojai Maidam Durga Mandir Committee at Lalmati in Guwahati on Thursday organized a function to extend a hearty felicitation to Additional Director General of Police-cum-Commissioner of Police, Guwahati Munna Prasad Gupta.
Siddheswar Baishya, Kanakeswar Goswami, Akhil Goswami and Nagen Goswami, on behalf of the committee, felicitated him with a gamosa and a letter of citation. Committee secretary Hiren Saharia, in his welcome address, described Munna Prasad Gupta as a ‘worthy son of Assam’ who completed his primary and secondary education in Assamese medium school in Golaghat district, and recalled his extraordinary services in taking a tough stand against organized armed gang of poachers and criminals during his successful tenure as the Superintendent of Police in Darrang and Sonitpur districts.
The Commissioner of Police Gupta said that success in life can only be attained through hard work with dedication. He also took part in an interaction programme with the senior citizens present in the function and appealed to them to cooperate and extend constructive suggestions to make the police more people friendly.
Senior citizens Ambika Prasad Sarma, Ujjwal Talukdar, Jyotimoyee Deka also addressed the function.
