GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Police has made three more arrests in connection to the abduction of two businessmen from the Garbhang Reserve Forest on June 30. The three persons were apprehended in the Rani area on Wednesday. They have been identified as — Kamala Rongpi (28), Raju Rongpi, and Amul Bey. All three are residents of Matang under Palashbari Police Station.
The victims — Kushal Kalita and Jayanta Kachari were rescued from the Assam-Meghalaya border near Rani on July 3. One of the kidnappers namely Bhadrewar Timung was already apprehended by a team led by DCP (Deputy Commissioner of Police) West on July 3. According to an FIR lodged at the Gorchuk Police Station, the duo went missing after going to the forest for plantation work on a motorcycle (AS01AG4194).
