New Delhi: The Guwahati Police on Tuesday nabbed a bus driver for his alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.
According to reports, the accused was identified as Nitumoni Kalita who was working as the driver of the school bus of Holy Child School in Guwahati.
''A CGPD team from Chandmari PS arrested one Nitumoni Kalita of Amiyanagar at Krishna Nagar today. A total of 0.57 gms Heroin, 3 vials, 1 syringe & 1 Nokia phone were recovered from his possession,'' the Guwahati Police tweeted.
The reports also claimed that after interrogating Kalita, he confessed that he was involved in drug peddling.
Notably, one after another such cases of drug peddling has come to the fore and the state police have become more vigilant.
A few days back, the Special Operation Group (SOG) of the Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD) and a team of Chandmari Police Station carried out an operation and arrested three drug peddlers.
The police team also recovered 4.26 gm of heroin, two syringes, three plastic containers, empty vials, 10 mobile phones, and Rs 5,000 cash from their possession.
The three-drug peddlers were identified as Goutam Sarmah of Gandhibasti, Saddam Hussain of Bhaskar Nagar, and Anufa Begum of Pub Sarnia.
