Guwahati Police rescued 20 cattle from smugglers in city

GUWAHATI: In yet another operation against rampant cattle smuggling in the state, Guwahati Police has been able to foil such a plot and managed to rescue several cattle heads from a truck.

During an operation carried out by a team of personnel from the Jorabat Out Post which comes under the Basistha Police Station of the East Guwahati Police District, a truck loaded with cattle was intercepted at the Jorabat Link Road. A total of 20 cattle were found on the vehicle bearing registration number AS 01 QC 4423. One person named Hafizur Rahman aged 35 and belonging to Rupahi was arrested in connection to the incident. The Guwahati Police have initiated legal action against the person and initiated an investigation into the matter.
