Guwahati Police seize heroin worth Rs 21 crore; 3 held

GUWAHATI: A huge consignment of heroin with a market value of approximately Rs 21 crore was seized during a late-night operation by Guwahati Police on Sunday. The joint operation was led by the Jorabat Outpost Police and a team of the Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD).

According to sources, the team intercepted a luxury vehicle bearing registration NL 01 CA 1197, where the seized consignment was kept hidden. On searching, the team seized 198 soap boxes of suspected heroin weighing 2.527 kg. In connection with this, the team arrested three accused identified as Md. Amir Khan (31), Md. Yakup (29), and Md. Jamir (34) all hailing from Manipur in Thoubal district.
