GUWAHATI: In yet another initiative of demonstrating one of Indian Oil's core values 'Care', Guwahati Refinery as a responsible corporate has recently come forward to fulfil one of the long-pending requirements of Guwahati Central Jail, stated a press release.

One of the 31 prisons located in Assam, Guwahati Central Jail, established in the year 1881, currently houses more than 1,500 inmates. Since a long time, the jail authorities have been looking for an ambulance with the required facilities to provide medical care the inmates at the hour of need.

SP Singh, Executive Director & Refinery Head, Guwahati Refinery, handed over an ambulance to Barnali Sharma, Inspector General of Prisons, under its Corporate Social responsibility (CSR) initiatives on Thursday at a programme organized at the Central Jail premises in the presence of PK Basumatary, Chief General Manager (Technical) and other senior officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Singh said that Guwahati Refinery feels proud to be a part of the initiative which would meet one of the much-needed requirements of the jail, thereby extending all possible support to the inmates at the times of any medical emergency.

Appreciating the gesture of Guwahati Refinery, Barnali Sharma expressed thanks to the refinery management and said that the much-needed ambulance would help the jail authority to provide medical assistance to the inmates as and when required.
