GUWAHATI: The GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI) have made it mandatory for COVID-19 duty ambulances to check the oxygen level of patients.

The GVK EMRI has directed the ambulances to record the SPO2 value (normal blood oxygen level) by pulse oximeter as soon as the patient gets inside the ambulance.

"GVK EMRI 108 has made mandatory checking and recording of SPO2 value by pulse oximeter in all 220 COVID duty ambulances for all COVID patients with immediate effect," stated a GVK EMRI official.

According to the official, if the SPO2 value of a patient is below 95 then he/she will be admitted to a hospital. If the value is above 95 then the patient will be sent to a COVID Care Centre, the source underlined.
