GUWAHATI: The Board of Secondary Education (SEBA), Assam, has released a notification regarding the registration of candidates who will be appearing for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination in 2024. The notification mentioned the registration fees as well as key dates for the registration process for the examination.

As per the notification, eligible students from all schools affiliated with the board have to register themselves via the online examination portal. The online form-filling process will begin on October 9 and continue until October 31, 2023. The last date for the online payment or the generation of challan for the payment of fees is October 31. The last day for making payments using challans at the SBI branches is November 3. The last day for correction of the online checklist is November 18. Complete details regarding the registration process will be made available in the Online Examination Portal at sebaregistration.org.

It was also mentioned that the user ID and password for the online examination portal (sebaregistration.org) will be the same as those of the Class IX registration portal. If the user ID and password are no longer found, one can contact the Member Secretary of the Regional Office, SEBA, in the concerned district. The payments can be made through SBI Online Mode or through the SBI Challan, which is generated from the portal. For SBI Challan, the school can deposit it at any nearest SBI branch along with the necessary fees. The helpline numbers have been provided on the Online Examination Portal.

Moreover, the portal for entering the marks of internal assessment (IA) for the candidates of HSLC Examination 2024 will open from December 20 to December 29, 2023, and all schools must enter the necessary internal assessment marks of their respective candidates of HSLC Examination 2024 in the portal. The link to the portal will be announced in the future.

The notification also mentioned that the registration fee for the HSLC Examination 2024 is Rs 2200, which includes an examination fee of Rs 700, a practical examination fee of Rs 150 if applicable, a centre fee of Rs 350, and an annual recognition fee of Rs 1000, which is to be paid by the head of the institution.

Candidates from the government, provincialized, or recognised venture schools whose parental income is less than Rs 2,00,000 and who have registered in the 2021-22 session in Class IX have been exempted from this fee.

It was also mentioned that some schools have registered the names of the candidates in their schools, even if the candidate is studying at another school. Exemption of fees for such students is not allowed, even if he or she belongs to the low-income category. If any exemption is granted to such candidates and it is noticed at a later stage, the result of the candidates shall be withheld, and necessary action will be taken against the Head of the Institution.

The parents or guardians of the candidate have to file an application before the Head of the Institution for an exemption in the fees, and the Head of the Institution must verify the genuineness of documents submitted by the parents, guardians, or students before allowing the exemption of the examination fee. The applicant must also give a photograph of the present status of the tree planted by him or her at the time of admission in class IX.

The candidate will be allowed to complete their form fill-up from their parent school only, where their Class IX registration has been done. No candidate will be allowed to fill out a form from another institution if their registration has not been transferred yet.

The centre fee of Rs 350 per candidate will be released by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam, to each of the centres in due course. In the examination portal, the centre-in-charge has to provide the bank details of the examination account of the centre for the release of centre fees. The detailed procedure is available on the examination portal. Candidates who have not appeared in any of the internal examinations of Class X, that is, the unit test, half-yearly examination, and pre-board examination, will not be eligible to sit in the HSLC examination in 2024.
