Hunger strike by Income Tax officers over Non-Gazetted & promotee Gazetted

GUWAHATI: At the call of the All India body of the Joint Council of Action (JCA), the JCA, NER has embarked upon the path of agitation to draw the attention of the Central Board of Direct Taxes and press for the issues/demands concerning the Non-Gazetted and promotee Gazetted personnel of the Income Tax Department.

According to a press release, the agitational programme was launched on Thursday by a hunger strike for the day by the office bearers of the constituent units of the JCA, NER, along with a lunch hour demonstration of all members and quitting from all "official" WhatsApp groups. The entire set of programme was observed by strict maintenance of the COVID-19 protocol.

The Charter of demands are –

1. The report of cadre review and eestructuring 2018 submitted by the committee may be sent to the appropriate authority as early as possible for approval.

2. Issuance of necessary clarification/direction to all CCAs for holding pending DPCs for promotions to the posts of ITO and below cadres immediately; etc.
