GUWAHATI: Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) Guwahati, a premium national institution on entrepreneurship under the Union Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, has ventured into entrepreneurship education for schools from Saturday.

IIE has joined hands with Entreprovers, an online education organization, to deliver entrepreneurship education to schools situated in different parts of the country, stated a press release. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Lalit Sharma, Director of IIE, said, "We still have lack of trained entrepreneurship teachers across the country, especially at school level, and IIE would like to fill this gap by reaching out directly to school students through online platform and train them in the area of entrepreneurship, as many school students take due interest in the subject but lack adequate guidance. With right guidance and mentoring many of them can make it their career in the long run."

He also said that "the programmes shall be offered to classes XI & XII and shall cover CBSE curriculum along with several additional inputs. Apart from education, some of the unique student ideas shall be identified and will be further supported through mentoring, hand-holding and even seed funding support. IIE is also imparting the education to the schools of Assam and other Northeastern States."

The first programme for class XI which started on Saturday is expected to end in the first week of January, 2023. The following schools are participating in this first batch: Podar International School, Navi Mumbai; TCV School, Mysore; Namisharanya School, Bhavnagar; and Doon Convent School, Haldwani. At the end of course, an examination would be conducted online to assess the performance of students. The students who are able to secure 50% marks in the exam and also have 75% attendance in the course will be eligible to receive certificate issued jointly by Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship Guwahati and Entreprovers.
