GUWAHATI: Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) organized a brainstorming session with the delegates from the selected care giving agencies of the Northeast at its campus recently.
While inaugurating the session, Dr. Lalit Sharma, Director-IIE, urged all the present delegates to support IIE in this brainstorming exercise and redesigning the motion of this project for the betterment of the targeted beneficiaries, and asked for inputs from all the present stakeholders and attendees. Keeping in view of the motion of this Care giving Project titled 'Transforming unorganized service sector industry into a formal service sector industry', IIE wants to create an ecosystem where all people can age gracefully and live a life of dignity, with focus on concerted and synergized action on the existing and emerging needs of the senior citizens.
The project aims to bridge the gap between formal institutional health care system and informal care in the delivery of quality care services to the elderly population of the country with special focus on the north-eastern States. The project sponsored by North Eastern Council (NEC) and implemented by IIE, led much emphasis on the development of the business plans, identification of beneficiaries, training of trainers and caregivers, providing reading and training materials in both English and local vernacular languages, liaisoning with local health authorities, awareness of elderly homecare and encouraging local entrepreneurs and ventures to move to Elderly Care Management which would further penetrate the hidden corners of the society alongside ensuring economic sustenance.
A total of 14 representatives from the care-giving agencies attended the brainstorming session both physically and virtually.
