India vs Sri Lanka match abandoned due to rains; steam iron, hairdryer used to dry pitch

India vs Sri Lanka match scheduled to be played at ACA Stadium, Barsapara on Sunday had to be abandoned due to rains.

"Not the news that we would want to hear, but the 1st T20I between India and Sri Lanka has been abandoned due to rain," BCCI tweeted.

The match could not take off despite repeated inspections carried out at 9:30 pm, 9 pm and 8: 15 pm.

Groundsmen even used hair dryer, vacuum cleaners and steam iron to dry the pitch for the match.

But the pitch and the ground weren't ready.

Usage of rudimentary tactics for such an important match invited criticism from people on social media.

The enthusiastic spectators who braved the rains and showed up were left disappointed.
