GUWAHATI: Indian Railways has run more than 4,450 Shramik Special trains, carrying over 60 lakh passengers. More than 616 Shramik Special trains have already reached NFR (Northeast Frontier Railway) areas including Bihar, West Bengal and NE states.
About 50 Shramik Special trains arrived in various locations of Assam, 23 in Manipur, 15 in Tripura, 5 in Mizoram, 6 in Nagaland (excluding those Dibrugarh bound trains from where people de-boarded at Dimapur) with stranded people from NE states including Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland and Assam under NFR. In NFR areas under Katihar division of Bihar about 344 Shramik Special trains arrived at stations like Katihar, Purnea, Arraria, Kishanganj. More than 169 Shramik Special trains also reached various stations in West Bengal under NFR carrying people to areas like New Alipurduar, New Cooch Behar, New Jalpaiguri, Aluabari with stranded people of states like West Bengal and Sikkim.
These Shramik Special Trains mainly came from various places including-Kozhikkode (Calicut), Kota, Jaipur, Nandurbar, Hisar, Surat, Sirhind Jn, Vadodara, Udaipur, Bharuch, Ghatkesar, and Ludhiana.
