The doors will be opened only when the bus stops at scheduled bus stops, and passengers will be allowed to get alighted only when the doors are open. The buses have also been asked to strictly adhere to the norm of not stopping buses between scheduled stops. The time slot for stopping a bus at a stop is not more than one minute, and the buses have to be operated with GPS devices fixed on them. Giving tickets to passengers is a must. City buses trying to overtake one another on the same route will be dealt with, it detected. The time cards have to be maintained by the Association of buses. Compulsory uniforms by city bus crew and the use of seatbelt by the drivers are compulsory. The buses have to display their route number, route details and permit route number on the front, back and the left sides of the buses respectively. The DTO said that the city bus owners would have to ply their buses on the routes permitted to them, and around 30 percent of buses are off the roads just to avoid penalties.
