GUWAHATI: An international webinar on Energy Access and Rural Development was held in Guwahati on October 5.
At the very outset of the webinar Dr. Ranjan Kumar Kakaty, Director of Students' Welfare Gauhati University welcomed the participants and highlighted the relevance of the webinar in context of rural development in Assam and discussed the pertinent issues related to renewable energy and role of National Scheme Service. Inaugurating the webinar Professor PratapJyotiHandique, Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University discussed the climate change mitigation measures with renewable energy resources and talked about the global and national scenario of the various energy resources and policies.
Professor Dr Claudio Lutzky of George Mason University, Argentina made a detailed presentation on Agriculture, Energy and Gender in the webinar as speaker and said about the importance of basics of inclusive energy agenda for sustainable development in context of agriculture and rural development. He stressed upon the decentralized distribution energy system and plans the energy access policy without discrimination.
The webinar was moderated by Dr Arup JyotiKalita, Director, CPASS and he also offered the concluding remarks. The webinar witnessed the presence of professors, research scholars, NSS volunteers, social workers, scientists and above two hundreds college students across the State of Assam.
