GUWAHATI: Raj Bhavan, Assam celebrated International Day of Yoga on its premises here on Sunday morning to promote yoga for health and yoga at home.
Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, first lady Prem Mukhi, officers and staff of Raj Bhavan participated in yoga maintaining social distancing protocol.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said, "Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition and it embodies unity of mind and body; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being".
He also said, "Yoga is not only exercise but it involves discovering the sense of oneness within oneself. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, yoga can help in increasing our wellbeing". The celebration of the day marked the end of four-day virtual yoga sessions conducted digitally in Raj Bhavan which also featured the participation of the officials and members of the Directorate of Sports, Marwari Yuba Mancha, Akhil Bharatiya Marwari Mahila Samity, Kreera Bharati, Bharat Scouts and Guides, CII, FICCI, Lions Club among others, a press release said.
