GUWAHATI: Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) Assam branch has slammed the State government on the daily wages of tea workers. INTUC president Hiranya Bora said, "By the giving different wages to the tea labourers of Barak and Brahmaputra Valleys the BJP-led government has divided both the valleys into two parts."

Bora also said, "Assam makes more profit in comparison to other states in terms of tea production, but the daily wages of tea labourers in Kerala are more than that of Assam. This issue has been always neglected by the BJP government. When time will come all the tea laborers will show what they can do." "I hope the new government will look after this matter and the tea labourers will get their rights," added Bora.
