 GUWAHATI: Guwahati Jagannath Rathyatra Festival, a nine-day festival an initiative of ISKCON, Guwahati, will start on June 20. The purpose of this festival is to bring every section of society together with the principle of “brotherhood” so that peace and unity prevail in our society irrespective of the diverse communities of the North Eastern region.

This year the festival will start with ‘Sri Jagannath Rathyatra’ from Aashi Apsara (formerly Apsara Cinema Hall) and culminate at the Jagannath Cultural Complex at Jayanagar via Ulubari, Bhangagarh, Ganeshguri, and Dr. R.P. Road, Last Gate, Beltola Tiniali. The Inaugural Function of the Rathayatra will be attended by the Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Pijush Hazarika, Minister of Water Resource, Public Relations, and Information, Ashok Singhal, Minister of Assam Irrigation, GDD, and Urban Development Dept. His Grace Ganga Das from Italy and many more.

During this nine-day festival, a special seven-day programme of “Srimad Bhagavad Katha” will be delivered by His Grace Amogh Lila Das, Vice President of ISKCON, Dwaraka, New Delhi. The venue for the seven-day katha at Jagannath Cultural Complex, Jayanagar, starts from June 21 to June 27 from 6.30 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.

The programme will conclude on June 28 with Ulta Rathyatra (Return Journey), starting from the front of the Main Gate of Digholi Pukhuri (opposite Museum), Panbazar, and ending at ASTC parking, Ulubari via Handique College, HB Road, Panbazar, Fancy Bazar, Old Central Jail, MS Road, AT Road, Paltan Bazar, stated a press release.
